I was playing the original N64 Smash Bros for the first time in many, many years last weekend. It’s a bit good, in case you’ve forgot. Now PC gamers can get their smash on with a new fan release that takes the original game, and turns it into a Game Boy title. Confusing… and so very awesome.
Super Smash Land features a handful of the original characters and stages, along with both the campaign and versus modes. Also, it looks bloody amazing, and handles excitingly well. It takes a little while to get used to the controls on a keyboard, but rather quickly that old Smash Bros instinct will kick in, and you’ll be knocking Mario out of the park over and over.
Well worth a download – and I’d grab it quick if I were you. Who knows whether Nintendo’s lawyers have spotted it yet!
Looks very fun! It also seems to handle just like you’d expect if you know the series.
And that one part of the trailer was a really cool surprise 😀

I would kill to see this on a real gameboy.
There’s also SSB:NES floating around out there. Although the camera is a problem for those prone to motion sickness.
I wonder why they didn’t use the actual pixel art for the characters!

the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the art style was “this is so Tower of Heaven”, and then at the end my heart got this warm nice feeling kuz I was correct 😀

Nintendo has shown some tolerance toward fan games as long as they don’t sell them or use copyrighted content (ripped graphics). I think it reduces the chance that Nintendo will unleash the hounds.

looks pretty sweet but you gotta wonder why for the trailer they used the gay ass supergay really dumb faggy lame dull monotonous retarded fucking idiot bullshit theme song from brawl, instead of any number of sweet tunes from the original smash bros

It -is- actual pixel art. It’s just not lazily ripped from another game; the artist took the time to make it himself.
