Supergiant Games’ hit PC and Xbox Live Arcade action-RPG Bastion has sold more than 500,000 copies to date, according to a recent blog post at the developer’s website.
Bastion originally launched for XBLA back in July; a Steam version followed in August. Supergiant notes that recent limited-time price drops for both editions helped spur sales past the half-million mark.
“We’re happy to have this many people playing and to be in a position to make more games on our own terms,” said Bastion writer/creative director Greg Kasavin.
“When we set out to make Bastion, a sales number like that seemed astronomical to us, so it feels great to have hit that mark. It goes to show that a lot of folks out there like what we’re doing and want us to keep going, which is great, because we intend to stick together as a team and do just that.”
Kasavin also lists the many awards Bastion has received this year, including an appearance among TIME’s Top 10 Games of 2011, a win in IGN’s “Best XBLA Game” category, and a spot in our own Top 10 Indie Games of the Year.

I just don’t understand what people see in this game. Its just a generic action game (albeit in an unusual setting) with limited enemies and a very annoying narrator.
I personally hated the game. I don’t see anything original in it, nor was it even a proper Indie game being published by Warner Brothers.
Well I am opposite of you. I happened to love the narrator and the classic old school vibe that this game had, you may call it generic but some people like having the good old Nostalgia vibe.
You don’t ALWAYS have to innovate or come up with something clever you just have to make a good game at it’s core and you’ll make a decent profit, perhaps a little dash of spice here and there..(the spice for bastion being the narrator)
Sniff 🙂 This game deserves the recognition, it’s the one of the tow games whose endings have made me shed tears 🙂
Please continue making games SuperGiant, we all love you!
@Sarah
Maybe your just one of the few people who just don’t get it? If you can’t even recognize any of the reasons why it would win so many awards and sell so many copies then maybe its you. Its like that one crazy person who walks around accusing the rest of the world of being crazy, because obviously, the problem couldn’t be with that persons self.
@chooch
Being a video game fan who dislikes heavy voiced narrative does not make one crazy. On the other hand, being a radio drama fan who hates heavy voiced narrative would be crazy.
it’s actually a marvelously tight & balanced little action-rpg with a brilliant difficulty system. i couldn’t give a shit about the story or the voiceover. the game at the core of bastion is just damn good.
Simply the value of information and make a lot of viewers and followers, thank you
I must say, its worth it!,i’llcheck back asap,cheers
Yet another issue is that video games can be serious in nature with the main focus on understanding rather than fun. Although, it has an entertainment part to keep the kids engaged, every single game is generally designed to work with a specific skill set or program, such as instructional math or science. Thanks for your posting.
