Terri Vellmann’s ESC for Windows teaches you typing in a dangerous, one-hit death arena game. The goal is to protect the ESC key from its angry keyboard neighbors who want to shut the game down. Arrow keys move ESC’s totally cute, tiny legs, and you press the attacker’s corresponding key to smash it.
ESC may get a few final tweaks, but it’s mostly done, Terri tells me. He also says he just changed the game from crashing on purpose (because of the ESC getting smashed). “Seemed fun on paper but I can see it getting old pretty fast. I’m thinking of at least giving the player a couple of seconds to hit retry before closing the app.”
He says he may work on jazzing up the visuals and sounds, too. “I’m definitely going to tweak gameplay as well so I’m trying go get some feedback from players, though I’m not planning on over complicating it.”
Give his ESC a try, but be quick about typing and dodging, or else the angry keys will shut down your game.
