Today’s trailer roundup features an action adventure game about a trans woman assassin in a society that hates her, a real-time RPG about wrapping up one’s affairs, a 4-player local co-op beat ’em up, a bullet hell Space Invaders mashup, an RPG with really strange enemies, a platformer in which the player manipulates the environment rather than the linked characters, a fighting game aimed at the accessibility and competitiveness of Smash Bros., a horrible death trap simulator, a first-person adventure game set in a virtual mindscape, and a scrolling shooter with fighting game inspired mechanics.
Windows, Mac | $9.99 | Summer or Fall 2015
This is to be a mission-based action adventure game with an outcast trans woman assassin as its main character. The developer’s description: “A future where men don’t exist. An increasingly corrupt and secretive government. Disputes handled by hitwomen. Ceyda Farhi is one of the many dispute settlers, but her status as a trans woman results in her oftentimes not being considered a “whole woman” by people in society–a tremendous problem when female identity and being a true citizen are necessary requisites for each other. When she discovers that an ancient society has been steering human fate for millennia, she arrives at a moral conflict: does she save a world who barely considers her a full person, or is it not her responsibility?” It’s headed to Kickstarter soon.

Rivals of Aether
Platforms TBA | $TBA | Sometime 2015
From the developer: “Rivals of Aether aims to capture the accessibility of the Smash series while also creating a competitive 1v1 fighting game. We have ties to the Smash Bros community and even have some top players assisting on design and balance. Each character has unique ways of manipulating the battlefield and their opponents.”
“Other titles have tried to recreate the Smash Bros experience by focusing on the Mascot Brawler aspect, but we are looking closely at what makes a game like Super Smash Brothers Melee fun, competitive and rewarding. We have taken great strides to make sure characters feel fast, fluid and varied.”
