SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption

You Grow Weaker With Every Boss Battle in ‘SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption’

Posted on October 18, 2018October 17, 2018 by Joel Couture

Action RPG SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption asks you to level down before fighting its eight personifications of sin, growing steadily weaker as you fight to atone for past crimes.

Adam, a man guilty of a heinous crime he cannot remember, is the protagonist of SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption. With his old kingdom in turmoil, his memories lost, and unseen forces dragging him into deadly combat, he’ll need your help in overcoming the troubles ahead, as well in choosing how he will become weaker with every fight.

SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption has Adam starting off quite powerful, steadily losing strength over the course of its action. You need to choose stats and strengths to lower when you choose to battle the game’s bosses, guiding how you grow weaker to give yourself a fighting chance. You have access to some weapons and items to counter this effect somewhat, but overall, players will need to become more skilled and careful as the game moves on in order to deal with your ever more enfeebled character.

Turning standard action RPG growth on its head, SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption forces players to make complicated decisions on how to progress while already dealing with foes that will only get harder with time. It’s a ruthless experience, but very much an intriguing turn for the genre.

SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption is available now on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. It is slated to release on the Discord Store and Steam later this year.
