Future Flashback is a point and click adventure game that takes place in a cyberpunk, futuristic world where drugs let you live within recreated memories.
This world has advancements unlike the current one we live in. You are put into the place of an ex-surgeon, one who is currently dependent on this strange, futuristic drug.
There is an expensive drug that is capable of recreating vivid memories, allowing you to live within them as if they are the current reality. This drug is heavily desired, but has very negative effects. Using the drug causes blackouts, forcing you to be in the memory until the drug lets you back out.
Your life seems to have taken a very dark turn. You are no longer with your family. You are alone, and part of the reason is because of this drug taking over your life. But you can use the drug to continue to live in the memories you had with them.
Future Flashback contains many different puzzles as well as a rich story. These puzzles are challenging, relying on clues you should remember or fragments of memories you need to find around you. They require information you should know, if you were this character, and that you need to find around your home or in your recalled past.
I got the chance to take on the demo of Future Flashback at AdventureX, and I found these puzzles to be so well designed and challenging. The game itself is curious – the future looks intense. It’s takes inspiration from the 80’s, especially in its musical choices. I look forward to playing the full story of this man once the full game is released.
Future Flashback is looking to be released in Q3 of 2019. You can keep up to date with the game by following the developers on social media or signing up for their newsletter – all listed on their website.
