A Space For The Unbound is a snapshot of the delightful friendship between a pair of teens in rural Indonesia. With a little bit of supernatural shenanigans thrown in.
Things start off quiet for Atma and Raya, a loving pair in a quiet town. They meet up in a small place they’ve carved out for themselves. They chat about themselves and their lives. They walk through sunlit streets, the peace of the countryside rolling along beside them. There is such a soothing calm to their connection and the place they live in – a sense of home despite my home town never looking like this.
But not all is well, here. One of the teens’ parents seems abusive. There is hints of troubling things going on at home. There’s a darkness that makes the teens’ relationship seem that much more touching and vital. I only got to experience a hint of it in the PAX East demo, but it had me deeply worried, yet also happy I could have the other teen help their sweetheart get out of trouble. Even if that trouble was likely to be waiting for them when they got home that night.
I only had a brief few moments to spend with Raya and Atma, but felt a tender connection between the two in good times and bad. They’re a charming couple, even if I only did a few puzzles to help them throughout my time with them. Still, this warm, comforting setting, and the catastrophic events that struck as soon as the demo was ready to end, made for a compelling visit to a home I’d like to get to know more about.
A Space For The Unbound is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist or grab a copy of its Prologue demo.
