Going Under is a ridiculous dungeon crawler that puts you to work repossessing lost assets from the cavernous ruins of bankrupt companies (and fighting the doomed former employees within)
You’re an unpaid intern! How lucky! Think of all the experience you’ll have to add to your resume from the time you spend combing through the ruins of broken companies! In the world of Neo-Cascadia, failed businesses become devoured by the earth, becoming sunken dungeons filled with the angry former employees who were duped into working for these places. Likely also for ‘the experience.’ Maybe you should be a bit more worried about your current job.
These former employees are forced to defend the company assets, even when the business is already languishing in ruin. These poor interns and middle managers will lash out at you should you try to get the company valuables, so you’ll have to grab anything that’s on-hand, from brooms to pencils to body pillows, to fight back against them. The result is a game of weapons of opportunity each a bit sillier than the last, and some downright hilarious office confrontations.
There’s a bit of procedural generation at work under the hood here, so expect many different office spaces to wander. If you happen to get thumped by something you didn’t anticipate, though, you’ll have to try all over again (you boss expects excellence from their unpaid staff, after all). Still, there are some handy skills you can bring to future runs through this satirical look at modern employment and tech startups, so it’s not all bad. You really do gain something from the experience. Just not a livable existence or decent wage.
Going Under is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
