Super Bernie World aims to stomp some particularly evil turtles flat as it hops across a few states, spreading hope and striking fear into billionaires along the way.
Some particularly nasty folk have taken root within this world, hiding out in their castle lairs while the people suffer around them. As Bernie, you’ll be clearing these awful turtles, bullets, sentient hats, and their Republican ringleaders out of the way, using the power of roses, cheese, and the people themselves. Needless to say, it absolutely is not shy about its political message and its push to help its chosen candidate have a better fighting chance.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s relentlessly cute and fun, and nails down the feel of a solid platformer. Putting on a Mario-like look for your game makes a tall claim about how enjoyable it’s going to be, and Super Bernie World makes booting those turtles in the face feel so very good. And crushing those hats. And clobbering those ICE bullets with the power of the people. But especially stomping those turtles. It just feels good for some reason. Some greatly mysterious reason. Who can really say what it is?
Super Bernie World is an interesting way of showing support for your political candidate – an interactive caricature that will hopefully touch some people who might not connect with this campaign otherwise. Beyond that, though, it’s just a delightful platformer that’s absolutely free. Perfect stuff for when you’re stuck indoors during a quarantine that could probably be alleviated a bit if everyone could get medical care without going bankrupt for it. If only there was someone pushing for that…
Super Bernie World is available for free (although there is an option to support the developers) on itch.io and Steam.
