30Birds seamlessly mixes Asian fairy tales with humor, poems and modern twists, all within a rotating cube land.
You get to explore a strange, magical, hand-painted 2D (yet 3D) world in 30Birds. Playing as Zig, a girl with a broken phone who just needs one to replace it, you end up going on a massive, epic adventure to find the birds loyal to a goddess. This seems to happen almost by accident, as you stumble upon a bird in a very small cage and just want to free it.
This bird has a lot to do with the history of the world you are living in, through the myths and legends that surround it. The world, while being beautiful, is also full of challenging musical puzzles which are used to free birds and generally get to new areas. Much of these puzzles can be solved through observation – which 30Birds encourages with its gameplay. There is always a new place to walk to as well, as each twist of the game’s cube-like reality offers something interesting to investigate. The characters are pretty funny themselves, too.
I, personally, was captivated during the demo I got to play at AdventureX and look forward to the future of this game.
30Birds is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add yourself to the game’s mailing list to keep up to date with its creation.
