In the aftermath of a war between humans and Mogwai (Mogs), you find yourself playing as Eve Staccato, a human marked by Mogs and entrusted with peacekeeping between the two feuding factions. It’s a tall task for anyone and your journey will not be an easy one, but you won’t be alone.
On your journey, you’ll encounter both Mogs and humans that can help you through friendship or assisting in the game’s turn-based fights. Your comrades will be able to help in battles against the often cute, but always dangerous, Mogs, using their special powers to help take enemies down. Barring that, you can always rely on a customizable moth to turn the tide of battle.
Getting too overwhelmed by intense combat or story? Try one of the relaxing activities, like fishing or card collecting. Maybe even try to understand the deeper lore by picking up some side quests. You can also use your party members and their abilities outside of combat to poke around the environments and locate some hidden places and items. With its charming landscapes, colorful characters, and cute, yet lethal enemies, there is plenty of reason to keep wanting to find more to the world of Heartbeat.
