Never Split the Party gives each party member a key role in combat, so should you lose that player, expect to lose access to maps, upgrades, and more.
Never Split the Party is a four-player dungeon crawler where each character has an important job in combat. The Cartographer keeps track of the dungeon map, the Treasurer controls the inventory, the Vitalist keeps tabs on health, and the Loremaster has all knowledge of upgrades. Should you lose track of this player through dying, if a monster ability knocks that player to another place, or if they just wander off, all of the other players will lose access to the abilities of those they are separated from. This means it is incredibly important to keep the group tight-knit, lest you suddenly lose access to all of your items.
Never Split the Party is a procedurally-generated dungeon crawler, so don’t go thinking you’ll be fine without your Cartographer. Hundreds of rooms can be put together by the game, so it will help a great deal to hold onto that map. Should your Cartographer fall in combat (or anyone else), another player can revive them, again pushing you to work together to save the day.
You can feel free to find some friends online to tackle the dangers of the dungeon and battle the parent-killing, insult-slinging Countess, battling through the game’s five floors of ever-growing dungeon danger. Just don’t lose track of too many characters from traps if you aim to live long. It would be nice to know if you’re one scrape away from death, after all.
Never Split the Party is available for free on Steam Early Access, but offers more classes should players purchase the Fellowship DLC for $19.99.
