Timespinner offers some monster friends that can help players as they fight to avenge their families, but you won’t have to rely on the AI to handle things, as a co-op pal can easily take control instead.
Evil empires are up to what evil empires usually are, which results in Lunais losing her family and the ancient timespinner device being destroyed. Not only this, but Lunais finds herself hurled into another realm with seemingly no hope of returning. Revenge is a powerful motivator, especially for someone who can stop time, as well as travel between past and present, so the empire may want to be on the lookout for a very irate heroine sometime soon. Maybe very soon, because time travel. Maybe even BEFORE they started the trouble.
This is why you don’t bother time travellers.
Timespinner takes you to pretty pixel worlds and interconnected places, letting players wander through these ever-expanding realms as they gain new powers that steadily open up new places to go. Not only will you be constantly finding new places within each world, but your ability to go back to the cheerful past or return to the grim present means every locations constantly unveils new secrets to you as you wander.
Time travel isn’t your only time-bending ability, as you can freeze time in place to work through puzzles or just to use an enemy as a platform to get someplace higher. This will be quite handy as you deal with Timespinner‘s challenging bosses, as a little break in the action can be a big help.
Then again, bringing in a pal could make those bosses even easier. Creature familiars will join Lunais throughout her travels, and they can be trained to fight alongside you. If they’re not quite combat-ready on their own, a second player can join in local co-op to give you that edge. You wouldn’t want an evil empire to go unpunished, would you?
Timespinner is available for $19.99 on PS4, PS Vita, and Steam.
