the Lyon? Sounds familiar. Didn’t your cousin used to have it? Still, when they had it, did it always play so…strangely?
the Lyon is about a cartridge you find in the middle of the road. The game seems to be a cheerful childhood romp, something that may seem familiar who spent their youthful days staying into their GBA, playing some overly-cute platformer. Unlike those adorable games of hopping and bopping, though, the Lyon seems to have something wrong with it. Maybe it was all that time lying outside, but playing this game creates a sense of menace that’s hard to shake.
As you work your way through this seemingly-innocent world, certain aspects will become unsettling and frightening (without going into gore). the Lyon looks to explore this sense of playing something that should not be played, and going places you feel you should know better than to go. It plays with that sense of safety those childhood games offered many of us, eroding that warmth and comfort with a sense of impending horror.
