Evil lurks in the dark fields and keeps of Stone Story RPG, and you must overcome its ASCII villains through equipment choice and a little careful planning.
What with all of these troublemakers about, you’d think they would want someone to take a direct hand in saving the world of Stone Story RPG, but they’ll really just want to take suggestions. Players do not have direct control over their hero in combat, but rather choose how to equip them and where they should go, then watch as the AI either wins the day and finds wealth immeasurable or gets themselves stomped by an angry tree.
You won’t be entirely helpless in the matter, as you can swap items or fiddle with them as the battle progresses, altering your character’s tactics throughout the match in case a boss decides to change the match on you. If that doesn’t quite work, you can always get creative with the game’s crafting system, making all-new tools out of old gear and making the most of the items you find.
Stone Story RPG makes impressive work of ASCII art, which you’ll have lots of time to admire as you stress about what your character will do in a fight. These monsters and lands are something to see, making the journey through lethal ruins and dangerous woods all the more pleasant through the detail created in simplicity.
Stone Story RPG is currently in development, but can be wishlisted on Steam.
