Picked up a good tool for fighting shadow creatures? Hopefully you’re lucky enough to roll to access it in roguelike A Good Day to Die.
You’ve lost your head to an evil princess, finding it replaced with a die as shadow creatures inhabit the small objects in your home in A Good Day to Die. As we found out from playing it at the Sweden Game Conference last week, this head isn’t so bad, though, as you can hurl it at enemies to knock them for a loop. Once you do so, you’re left vulnerable, but you can teleport back to the body whenever your like. This lets players set up tricky attacks to sneak up on foes that are charging after your body and not watching where your head landed.
A Good Day to Die gives players multiple weapons they can find through the roguelike adventure, giving them more of an edge in combat against the aggressive thimbles, pincushions, and other household trinkets they’ve animated in dangerous ways. However, you have to assign new weapons to die rolls from one to six, with these numbers getting re-rolled periodically throughout the game. Whichever number comes up is the weapon you’ll use, so you have to practice a little bit with everything just to be safe.
A Good Day to Die‘s gambling concepts force you to adapt and try different things, ensuring you never grow complacent with any one moveset. That its enemies are highly aggressive only pushes you harder, creating a game where the player is frantically making decisions. How well can you roll with it when Lady Luck wants little to do with you, though? You’ll need to get ready to huck that head of yours at monsters and find out.
