As paranormal investigator K.C. Morgan, you’ll find yourself scouring a New England mansion looking for your father, finding strange scrolls that will reshape reality and who you are in Lore Finder.
A modern queer re-imagining of cosmic horror, Lore Finder will have you guiding K.C. throughout their journey into the mansion. You have to help them find the scrolls, written on human flesh, that contain the answers as to what happened to K.C.’s father, but in so doing, reshape the layout of the mansion and its contents, as well as giving yourself new, corrupt powers. These may make things easier as you wander, but will they turn you into the very creatures you’re fighting against?
Lore Finder‘s mansion teems with tentacled threats, from cultists who serve the darkness to those who’ve become a wriggling part of it. You can mow these horrors down with K.C.’s revolver, but that weapon pales in comparison to the strength these monsters possess. With the scrolls comes your own monstrous abilities, though, which will help you turn the tide against them, but again, will steadily make you like them as well.
Their father isn’t the only person whose emotions stain this place, either. The anguish of an unloved child, the frustrations of a would-be scientist, and the bleak histories of other characters can be told through your explorations and encounters, weaving a dark tale as you move deeper into the mutated bowels of the mansion.
Lore Finder, even in this early state, asks questions of personal identity and its reflection in the body we inhabit, all while providing solid action against some sickening creatures in an unsettling place.
A Kickstarter is currently underway for Lore Finder, with a demo available through the campaign.
