Your ship’s busted up, your people are sick, and the gods seem to be up to shenanigans. May as well help a shield maiden bust some heads (and find out about herself) with Metroidvania Freja and the False Prophecy.
Freja and the False Prophecy takes you through the varied styles and locales of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil, each offering a unique look, as well as an array of monsters and troublemaking gods to help take out. Your axe will go a long way toward that goal, but you’ll also use an RPG growth system to unlock abilities and useful warcries of your choice, letting you customize Freja to your play style.
Not that you might not get squished here and there. Gods and monsters make for tough foes for a shield maiden with some bad memories, so you’ll need to fight smart and take care in battle. You cannot afford to trade hits with monsters that are many times your size, or with gods who can call upon lightning. Life’s rough in each of the realms, even if these places are all quite pretty to look at.
You may have some backup as you explore Freja and the False Prophecy, as some of the people you meet on your journey can offer some assistance or a laugh. Or they’ll try to kill you too. Who knows? Still, if you can weather the challenging combat and dangerous worlds, you might help Freja uncover the truth about herself and a certain troubling prophecy.
A demo for Freja and the False Prophecy is currently available through its ongoing Kickstarter campaign.
Frank here, one of the devs on Freja. Thanks so much for covering our game, we really appreciate it! 🙂
