Swapping equipment to get tougher in an action RPG is all well and good, but what about trading out whole body parts for stronger ones?
Evil magicians getting dumped sometimes causes trouble, and while raising the dead of the Cubold Kingdom is kind of a downer for everyone, at least a hero was resurrected alongside all of those dangerous monsters in action RPG Skellboy. Skippy, a long-dead hero, is now back in action and sporting a customizable body after the magician’s spell brought some nasty undead to the kingdom, and you’ll need to help them put things right again through exploration and monster extermination.
As a skeleton, Skippy isn’t too particular to any one set of bones so long as they’re still upright and able to bash monsters. Skippy’s body parts can be swapped out for new ones (that you can take from your foes to boot) that will confer different abilities on the skeleton, letting players customize their cute little body in various useful ways. You can also give Skippy several styles of weapons depending on how you want to knock creatures around.
Despite the gruesomeness of gaining new abilities from taking parts from dead foes, Skellboy features a charming art style that gives even the most dangerous of monsters a cute, huggable look. Maybe this will make you feel a little bit guilty about fighting them. Maybe you’re the real monster for beating these creatures up. Did you ever think about that?
Skellboy is slated for release in 2019.
