Having friendly humans and monsters in your party is a big help in HEARTBEAT, but having a moth pal you can customize however you like is an even bigger help.
HEARTBEAT, whose demo we previously dug a lot, casts you as Eve, a conjurer. Conjurers are people who’ve been chosen by the Mogwai, which are monstrous creatures in the game’s world, and being chosen seems to mean keeping the peace between humans and mogwai. More specifically, this means going on an adventure with your varied buddies, thumping cranky monsters, solving puzzles, and helping out wherever you can.
While you’ll make a bunch of different friendships with Mogwai and humans who offer handy puzzle-solving and monster-clobbering powers, a customizable moth friend can be your handiest colleague. This powerful magic baby moth grows however you want it to, as its stats and abilities are shaped by the monster drops that you give it. This tough baby can do whatever you want as you explore HEARTBEAT‘s charming world, making it an invaluable ally.
HEARTBEAT brings some adorable creature friends, tons of lore-filled sidequests and post-game content, fishing games and a fully-realized card game for when you need a diversion, and a story and world that ooze personality. And a powerfully-cute moth friend who just wrecks faces. It really has it all, honestly.
HEARTBEAT is available for $14.99 on Itch.io and Steam.
