We explore the gloomy, monster-filled lands of Odallus: The Dark Call for the Switch in this IGP First Look.
Newly released on Nintendo’s plucky system, Odallus: The Dark Call follows Haggis as he roams the countryside, fighting the monstrous beasts that have overtaken it as he seeks his lost son. People he used to trust have taken on twisted shapes, sickening creatures stalk the woods and ruins, and some dude with a mouth in his stomach is just out there being a jerk. Curse him and his weird long neck, too!
Odallus is a sombre, sprawling journey through bleak lands, taking inspiration from Castlevania, Gargoyle’s Quest, and other horror-based action games. Expect to spend a lot of time seeking its secrets and savoring its sorrowful tunes, as it’s not lost any of its quality since the last time we played and enjoyed it. But you can go ahead and see that for yourself right here:
Odallus: The Dark Call is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. It is also slated for release on the PS4 and Xbox One this Spring.
Why do I sense a Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Demons Crest vibe from Odallus: The Dark Call? Anyway, this brilliant platformer’s music and art direction really suit my taste. It’s great that its Switch version is finally available. Thanks for reminding me about this game.
