Ghosts and monsters from across the globe all seem to be out for a single lost child in horror platformer Incubo.
CONTENT WARNING – Child Abuse, Gore
Incubo casts the player into a strange dimension after a mysterious force hurls a child from the side of a cruise ship (well, maybe not that mysterious given the boy’s evil-ish stepfather). Instead of meeting the waves, the boy awakens in a gloomy dimension filled with monstrous beings, which he must avoid if he’s to ever escape.
You will be put through various unsettling worlds, each filled with an array of phantoms that mean you harm. Through some careful puzzle platforming, you should be able to stay ahead of these ghastly creatures. At least, I hope you do, as you’ll meet several gruesome ends if you don’t. But at least you’re learning a bit about various folklores from across the globe as these ghosts kill you. They’re inspired by mythology from all over the place.
If you can withstand the constant pressure of being chased by creepy creatures, you just might uncover the story behind Incubo and your jerk stepfather. Hopefully there’s some good reason behind what he’s become.
Incubo is available now on Steam.
