Take care of your animals, barter with merchants, and try not to give in to the despair surrounding the odd news your family sends you in The Stillness of the Wind.
You’ll be joining Talma in The Stillness of the Wind. She has been spending her final years watching as people trickle away from her village, and now, she is the only one left. It’s up to you to help her figure out what to do with her time here, scratching out a living with your animals of simply losing yourself in the desert around you.
You are free to breed and milk your goats, harvest eggs, grow veggies, and take care of your plants by watering them. This place offers enough for you to care for yourself, especially as you barter with these goods with a travelling merchant, but is existence all you want from this life? Yes, Talma can survive this way, but there is a gulf of loneliness that comes with simply surviving in this place.
Not that going to the city seems to be a great alternative, as Talma receives unsettling news of life outside of her village from the merchant every once in a while. At least it’s some human contact, though. Still, you’ll have much time to think about your life, your family, and the loneliness that seems all-encompassing in this thoughtful sequel to Where the Goats Are.
The Stillness of the Wind is available now on the Nintendo Switch, the App Store, and Steam.
