‘Rogues Like Beer’ Keeps Brew on Tap Through Sacrifice & Puzzles

Sacrifices must be made if you want to drink with your brigade. At least, that’s the mantra behind your quest to restore beer to the taps of the old McGrath pub in Rogues Like Beer.

A short, 3D puzzle platformer, Rogues Like Beer was created for Ludum Dare 43. It delivers on the theme ‘Sacrifices Must Be Made’ as its puzzle element. Players alternate between two of the titular rogues, moving large objects and then using those objects, and one-another, as platforms. Jump on a stone platform being held aloft by your buddy and you’ll crush them under your weight. Toss a plank into the water to create a platform and your character will drown for the greater good.

While there is no fail state per se, you might find yourself needing to restart a level if you leave some platforms in obscure places and realize that there are more efficient ways to clear the room.

Rogues Like Beer is a delightful effort from the developer, and easily one of the most complete and finished builds of a jam entry of this type that I have played. It is also extremely fun, and something definitely worthy of note.
