Your extended middle finger is handy for shooting enemies down, but why not put the rest of those fingers to work punching and throwing foes in Freedom Finger?
Lunar scientists have been kidnapped by terrorists, and you’ve got to go save them with a five-knuckle ship. This means you can blast your way through the game’s thirty six levels if you want to, but you’re also free to execute grabbing moves or punches to knock foes for a look instead. You can also pick up stuff, allowing you to carry guns when you’re not using your finger guns. Basically, the enemies are in a rough spot. Plus, how bad would it hurt to get punch by a space ship?
Freedom Finger aims to please your ears as it challenges your trigger finger. Its soundtrack has been created by a variety of musical artists (like Danimal Cannon), and is also connected to the gameplay. A good sense of rhythm will then help you against the bosses and space monsters, as you can dodge the attacks that come on beat. In theory.
With its cartoon look and ridiculous ship, Freedom Finger also comes with a satirical story that somehow mixes elements of video game crafting, sriracha sauce, and US foreign policy. Yup. It’s gonna be a wild shmup, kiddos.
Freedom Finger is slated for release in 2019, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
