You will meet many unfortunate ends as you work your way through Retrace, but by jumping back to a past decision, you can learn to undo your death.
You and your buddies have found yourselves in a pretty awful place to spend a lazy day. There’s creatures around, a lot of traps, and people generally getting murdered and killed left and right. You need to somehow help your buddies get through the day with their organs intact, doing so through making the right decisions about where to go and how to act. Trouble is, a lot of your decisions will end in your doom.
Your one boon in this gruesome world is that you gain the ability to rewind time, bringing yourself back to past decisions to see if you can alter your fate. This means that you will be spending a great deal of time winding things back, looking for where you made a wrong turn in order to correct yourself to a less murder-y course. Which won’t be easy, especially as you watch your allies meet horrible ends over and over again.
Inspired by games like Corpse Party, Yume Nikki, and the Zero Escape titles, Retrace looks to have you constantly altering your path through its narrative, seeking out that one golden route through it all. Still, your deaths will teach you a lot of the secrets about this awful world, so maybe letting your pals die a couple of times isn’t so bad. I mean, you CAN bring them right back.
Retrace is slated for release in September 2019, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
