The new Switch release of She Remembered Caterpillars offers some calming visuals with its wooded areas filled with vibrant, cheerful creatures you need to help.
She Remembered Caterpillars has you helping colorful critters get to platforms through working together. The various colors of pathways will only allow certain creatures to pass through it, so you need to help one another out, sometimes by mixing two creatures together to get whole different colors, or by using varied tools in the environment, to get to the platforms that will let you float away.
These puzzles, while challenging, are somehow relaxing as well. The colors, locations, and music all create this calming atmosphere, taking you to a place of innocence and togetherness. That they’re combined with the game’s evocative story of loss and grief makes for some heart-wrenching moments, but all with this powerful sense of peace.
And now, you can play its tear-jerking story on the road and in public with its Switch release. Still, its a good reason to try this lovely puzzler if you haven’t already, and a great reason to re-experience its charms if you have.
She Remembered Caterpillars is newly available on the Nintendo Switch, but you can also grab it from The Humble Store, Itch.io, and Steam.
