Pixel Puzzle Makeout League is a mash-up of picross and dating sim. And it works. It works so dang well.
You’ll have a few eligible partners in this world of personified puzzles: Chess, Sudoku, Crossword, and a Jigsaw Puzzle. A literal Jigsaw puzzle piece. It was clear from the PreGamer event before Pax East that there was a favorite judging by how fast the pins for a certain character disappeared. Despite this obscure and charming character, Pixel Puzzle Makeout League still manages to dance the fine line of goofy-beyond-the-point of return and harlequin novella style romance. You’ll get the best of both worlds here in the lighthearted and puzzling dating sim.
A common issue with dating sims is being pulled along with the tide of text. It can be easy to mentally check out as you read the 30th new way to describe someone’s flushed cheeks. Pixel Puzzle Makeout League topples this issue by adding in the honing of Pixel Girl’s power: solving pixel puzzles. Breaking up the text with these tricky puzzles to yield a pixel perfect solution helps to keep players engaged.
I am absolutely chomping at the bit for this dating sim and cannot wait for more updates. I never thought Picross could bring me such joy.
