You’ll be selling things door-to-door in Talk to Strangers, chatting your way through the strange conversations you’ll have with the folks you meet.
You’re a new door-to-door salesperson with Sunny Mornings, tasked with hawking whatever it is that they’re trying to sell. Don’t worry, you don’t actually need to have any idea about your product, but instead just have to be a charming conversationalist. It’s about calming and chatting up the people whose doors you darken more than the product. With, if you are me, is a much, much more challenging thing to do. Talk to strangers? Yuck.
The game gives you an array of folks in an area you’ll be working over from a motel room, having you knock on their doors and try to talk them up to interest them in your product. You’ll have to navigate several conversation options in order to secure that sale, but knowing what to say can be a challenge during the game’s odd talks. Getting to know your clientele through chats can help you figure out the best route to sell them junk, so a little practice talking to them can’t hurt. Also, the conversations can be quite odd, so seeing how goofy they can get is also fun.
Talking with people is taxing, though, and will build up Rage and Depression meters. If you can make some decent sales, you can start buying items that will help mitigate those growing issues, but you’ve also got to pay off the motel you’re staying at. Can you juggle your expenses and sell to the locals before all of this social business makes your explode?
Talk to Strangers is available now on Itch.io.
