Venture Kid looks sharp with its Mega Man-like play and style, but is anyone else worried about this poor kid? At least Mega man was a robot who could be put back together. This kid’s in trouble.
Venture Kid arms a child with bombs, blasters, and beams, having him face an evil doctor because in video game land, evil doctors never have trouble getting funding for some reason. You have to wonder who is paying all of these people to try to kill this child across the game’s nine stages, as there has to be some decent coin involved. Plus, how much money would it take to get a super weapon up and running? And keep all of these villains working? Although presumably, the wildlife is working for feed. But what do fiery birds even eat?
If you can keep yourself from thinking too hard on these questions, you’ll be free to blast your way through the game’s challenging levels. You get a variety of tools to fight your enemies with, each with unique throwing arcs or abilities that you’ll need in different situations. Knowing the right weapon will make a big difference in this poor kid’s life. Again, he’s not a robot. Those spikes really hurt.
Venture Kid‘s new Switch release brings Survival and Boss Rush modes. If you feel like the kid hasn’t been hurt enough, these modes will bring even further pain into his life. There’s also plenty of hidden things throughout the main game if you want to risk the kid getting beat up even more. Still, should you be putting this child in any more danger, or should you be looking for who’s funding all this? Follow the money, kids. That’s how you undo evil doctors.
Venture Kid is available now on the Nintendo Switch, the App Store, and Steam.
