Hunger and thirst will be huge concerns as you explore the Brazillian backlands in the late nineteenth century, but if you know where to look, you might have a chance of surviving this lethal dry land.
Cicera is just trying to find her destiny during a brutal drought in historical survival game Arida: Backland’s Awakening. You’ll be taking the journey alongside her as you look for sources of water and food, make use of the things you can find, and chat with the other people you meet along the way to learn about local legends and folklore.
The backlands are a harsh place during this drought, though, so you will always need to be on the lookout for something useful. You can learn some recipes to craft helpful items out of the odd flora and fauna that can survive these dry temperatures. You’ll want to keep some sharp tools on hand to harvest them, though, as overworking yourself in this heat won’t help. Be sure to keep something on hand to keep them from getting dull, too.
Helping people can get you some food and water as well. The people you find out here all have some legends and stories to share, and if you help them out with a few quests, you could get some of the items you need. Beats trying to find them for yourself, honestly. Plus you can learn some interesting folklore to boot.
If you’re craving a little history with your survival game, as well as some truly rough terrain to thrive in, Arida: Backland’s Awakening has a lot to offer.
Arida: Backland’s Awakening is available now on Steam.
