Playing hide and seek in a graveyard with a ghost? OBAKEIDORO! has Halloween starting early for you and three friends.
Out now for the Nintendo Switch, OBAKEIDORO! has one player acting as a ghost, and three other players as children who routinely make poor decisions on where to hang out at night. As the kids, you’ll want to keep from getting snagged and dropped into a weird graveyard jail, and the ghost will be looking to sneak up on kids and grab them.
Both sides have a few weapons they can use against one another. As the kids, you can send out a burst of light from your lantern that will stun the ghost, buying you some time. The ghost can phase through environmental objects, letting it really hone in on prey (or hide in crypts to stay out of sight).
These powers, simple as they may seem, must be used in clever ways to outsmart and outmaneuver the other side. You have to wait for your lantern stun to recharge before you can use it again, so it’s smart to stick together as the kids. Still, you might need to split up to hit the two switches that will release captured kids from jail, which gives the ghost time to catch someone. The ghost may be powerful, but a team that’s working together could carefully stun lock a ghost that isn’t using stealth to work the group over. There’s a fair bit of depth in this spooky hunt, making for some playful, but sometimes scary, fun on the Switch.
OBAKEIDORO! is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
