Through short dating vignette minigames, you’ll see how a loving couple came together, as well as enjoy the humor that comes from growing closer to someone.
People are kind of ridiculous creatures. Especially when they’re shy around someone. This often means that embarrassing or silly stuff just naturally happens, and you’ll get to see a lot of that as you follow Nina and Jake’s relationship in We Met in May. You’ll go on dates with them, carrying out a variety of minigame actions on each date as you follow them through the moments that make them want to be together.
You’ll play as Nina on these dates, showering Jake with chips, wine, and sand on one date, and enjoying a meal he cooked for you on another. You might also have to move to hide your unmentionables in your dirty apartment, or deliver a quick, playful pinch to keep the game and story moving. Many silly, yet touching moments will happen during each of the dating minigames, drawing you into their growing connection as you work your way through the game. They’re short experiences, but each looks to capture a beat within the couple’s dating life.
Drawn from the developer’s own experience, the games provide a charming story arc to the couple’s relationship. They also show the ordinary ways in which an extraordinary, loving bond can be built through the simplest of acts.
And that a good partner won’t get too upset if you leave your underwear lying around. As long as it’s clean.
We Met in May is available now on itch.io and Steam.
