Move over Pokémon, it’s time for some real-time action battles. Creature Keeper focuses on befriending wild creatures and forming a team to topple foes that would otherwise be impossible alone.
Care for your creatures with home-cooked meals and learn all their skills to unlock their full potential in this adorable and action-packed adventure.
Creatures are going berserk, and it’s up to you to soothe them into standing by your side. Perhaps you will even stand as tall as the fabled hero who stood among dragons. You will be in charge of which creatures they would like to befriend, as well as finding some that are beyond saving.
You can form your team by feeding wild creatures snacks that you find or meals you cook. The fastest way to creature’s heart is through their stomach. Your newfound friends will have both strengths and weaknesses, and a well-rounded team will make sure there are no gaps in your armor. Some creatures may be weak to piercing or blunt damage – which may not be just up to your team to cover. You can switch between three weapon slots to equip your most suited weapon to take full advantage of weaknesses.
By defeating certain monsters, you’ll be able to reveal new information about them in your Bestiary. You can also do this by raising that creature. As you do, you will unlock skill points for that specific creature. Information is power, after all. If you prefer not to massacre your best friends’ species, you may want to take the route of earning skill points via raising. You can befriend and raise your creature with foods, too. Now, a raw apple is well and all – but how about some honey-glazed apples? Creatures have specific tastes and will respond better to foods they like (don’t we all?). Putting the extra effort into cooking foods will also yield bonus buffs for your pet. The only pesky part is finding all the ingredients. Luckily, there is a handy mechanic for just that!
On top of having an expansive world, creatures to befriend, and bosses to fell, Creature Keeper even has a Pocket Garden. It is as adorable and compact as it sounds. You will be given a 5×5 grid to arrange their seeds to try to maximize your space. You’ll need to put your old-school Tetris skills to work here. You’ll be rewarded for using every inch of your plot. A successful crop yield will give you a plethora of ingredients to work with to create some delectable dishes for your best friends.
The attention to detail in Creature Keeper goes above and beyond from beautiful hand-crafted pixel art to a smooth-as-butter user interface that keeps you drawn in and eager to dabble in every nook and cranny. Creature Keeper is going to be an experience to remember.
