As Far As The Eye wants you to focus on guiding an ancient tribe in their studies and livelihood, rather than building armies to conquer the world.
In a world with no enemies, your main task is to save this village and its inhabitants from natural disasters and an impending flood.
This pacifist-style game offers you a chance to learn about a truly intriguing fictional world. You also won’t be feeling a time pressure, as the game is turn-based. This approach will let you focus on the nomads, called Pupils. Your goal is to guide this mobile village through procedurally-generated terrain toward the center of the world where there is a circus called the ‘Eye’. As you move, you’ll be given opportunities to bolster your economic worth with new buildings and settlements with resources you uncover. You may want to also instruct your Pupils to turn their eyes to books to uncover new technologies. On top of each of these things to keep in mind, you’ll also be able to improve various elements of your village – like upgrading Pupils via a job system, or upgrading buildings, or even delving into the Tribe’s knowledge to improve your people as a whole.
All of these upgrades will ultimately be your main protection against the growing flood that threatens your every turn. Don’t forget, though, that random events may lead to natural disasters that will leave you completely overwhelmed if you’re not prepared to face them. Some events may not be as bleak, as you may uncover a Pupil you can recruit to have an extra pair of hands. You’ll definitely need them.
Overall, As Far As The Eye is extremely curious with its fantastical world and mysterious story. With such an intricate world to explore and complex systems to navigate, you will likely have tons of fun trying to weather the storm with the perfect motivation of protecting your adorable Pupils (and their even cuter animal friends).
As Far As The Eye is currently in closed Beta, but you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
