Miss staring at the shelves of a bookstore as you look for something that tickles your fancy? The Bookshelf Limbo has you browsing for the perfect reading gift.
It’s your dad’s birthday, and you’ve decided to pick out a book as a gift for them. Still, what one should you choose? There are many different titles all over the wall, each offering a short blurb about them to help you decide if it feels like the right one. If you’re not sure based on that, you’re free to look up some online reviews on the titles, as well as reading some of the quotes on the back. You can also pick a book by its cover. People warn you not to do that, but it’s hard to deny the grabbing power of a good cover.
This seemingly simple game could be completed by you just grabbing any old book for your dad, but you would miss a lot of the game’s interesting elements. There’s a lot of varied stuff to read at this book store, and it’s fun to look over the touching, emotional, and lighthearted book ideas that are present along the shelves. Is your dad into romance? Poetry? Relationships forged over ping-pong? It’s a delight just to see all of the different things there are to read, recreating the joys of idly perusing a book store.
The other charming part about The Bookshelf Limbo was that in had me thinking of my own parents as I pulled books off the shelf. I started thinking about what they’d enjoy reading, finding myself recalling memories about them and thoughts on what they’re interested in. It made for a lovely exercise in thinking about my loved ones, making for a pleasant time spent picking an imaginary gift.
