Negative Nancy is a funny, yet unique game that’s based on a sitcom style of writing, where you play as Nancy, a person who can only say ‘No’.
When it comes to conversation, only being able to say one word or nothing won’t get you very far, but Negative Nancy has been only saying the word No for her entire life, so I guess you can adjust. You have a pretty normal life otherwise; you work at a local grocery store, you are friends with your co-workers and are friendly with your boss. Telling people No is actually quite freeing, allowing you to stop demanding bosses in their tracks and tell your co-workers that their dreams are achievable.
But, as the game is sitcom based, you end up in some strange situations. In the demo of the game, you are eating some normal lunch with your normal co-worker before you suddenly end up at the police station, having been accused of murder! Without being able to explain yourself or even tell any sort of story, you’ll need to talk your way out of this with a limited vocabulary. It’s a challenging life, but someone has to do it!
Negative Nancy is quite funny; the game is meant to be a comedy sketch, with a bunch of different routes depending on if you say no or say nothing. I’ve personally enjoyed the demo on Steam and was able to talk to the developers during Pocket Gamer’s Big Indie Pitch Digital, hearing all about their future plans. I’m excited to follow more of the life of Negative Nancy and see what trouble she ends up getting herself into.
Negative Nancy is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab the demo or add it to your wishlist on Steam.
