Spooky Station is a collection of nine different horror-themed mini-games, making it a perfect collection for those of us who love the feeling of Halloween.
Let me tell you about a few of the games:
Spookids
You and up to three of your friends are able to play Spookids locally, choosing strange creatures with their own abilities to look for Halloween candy. Each creature can jump, dash, and has a different attack which can be used to fight off hordes of evil creatures who are roaming the street. You can’t move onto a new screen until every enemy is destroyed, but thankfully, power-ups and new weapons can be found dotted around the area for you to take advantage of.
Thursday the 12th
Thursday the 12th is a first-person point-and-click adventure game where you play as a quirky serial killer that’s getting ready for their day! At first, things are pretty normal, seeing you getting up, taking a shower, and making breakfast. However, all around you are strange items and weird things that you can interact with to get more of the story. You are, in fact, a serial killer – one on TV even – in a large house full of strange items that only a serial killer would have. They’re quite the quirky killer, too, which is very interesting!
Killing Moon
Another point-and-click adventure game, this time following a high school student who is going to the school’s Halloween dance when his friends start disappearing. Whenever the lights go out, one of his friends is gone. At first, this seems like nothing too nefarious, but it quickly becomes something much more sinister. The lights begin to indicate loads of things going wrong, and with many paths blocked, you’ll need to find a way to make it out alive with (most of) your friends. This game is more into horror then the previous two, but I did find the lack of feedback when trying to use items to be the biggest downfall.
Tower of 100 Floors
In Tower of 100 Floors, you get to play a cat person (which is already awesome) who is fighting off floor after floor of diverse enemies. Each time you play, the game is different, as these floors seem to be procedurally-generated. You are able to hold three weapons – two guns and a knife – to fight your way through enemies, who also drop more guns, ammo, bombs, and coins. If you die, your coins sit on the last level you were at, waiting for you to come grab them on a future run. There are a lot of challenges to this game with its one hundred levels, but it’s really quite fun to play!
There are a few other games in the bundle for you to look at, but these were the ones that most quickly caught my eye. If you like a variety of spooky things, Spooky Station is a great bundle to pick up to feed that need.
