Maggie’s got a crush on her rival from another roller derby team in Skate & Date. But maybe you can impress her with your skills as lead jammer.
Maggie is a busy highschooler, but no one is too busy to develop a crush on someone, right? The difficult part is that her crush, Patricia, plays for her rival roller derby team. A team you tend to demolish. So not only do you have teenage romantic worries to deal with, but you might also be worried about whether your crush appreciates being trounced every time you square off. Still, maybe your best chance to impress her is in showing what you can do?
Impressing Patricia (and continuing your streak of beating the local roller derby teams) involves playing a rhythm game to some funky tracks, working your way down the track to victory. Not to add any pressure, but how you play through these sequences will have an effect on your outcome (and the decisions that will open up to you, which ALSO affect the outcome). There are a couple of different difficulty levels, though, so don’t feel too pressured to become the ultimate jammer.
Skate & Date looks to mix teenage sport and romantic drama in a charming package that’s all tied together by a catchy soundtrack. That’s something that will definitely be far better than any of my memories of high school dating.
Skate & Date is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist. A demo is also available on itch.io.
