In Undying, Anling has been bitten by a zombie and has little time left. All she can do is pass on her survival skills to her son while she still can.
You play as a mother who is going to turn into a zombie, and there is very little you can do about it. Unfortunately, your son Cody is still too young and unprepared to make it in the world on his own, and it’s not like you can trust some strangers with him. You may be a danger to him, but you’re also his best shot at staying alive. This forces you to constantly worry about yourself as well as the infected world around you.
You’re not gone yet, though, and so it falls to you to defend Cody from zombie attacks, find shelter for you both, and keep up a supply of food and water. While you do this, it’s important that you teach Cody how to craft, prepare food, and fight back, as these are all skills he’ll need while you’re gone. As Anling deteriorates (although you can find some items that will slow the infection), you may find that your child has learned enough vital skills to help keep you both going. That’s only if you carefully managed your time so that you could teach him in between your searches for food and your battles with undead hordes, though.
Undying promises a touching look at a mother’s unbreakable love for her child, and the lessons parents hope will carry their kids through the rest of their lives once they’re gone.
Undying is currently slated for release in 2021, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
