Make Ends Meet has you surrounding objects with a rope, carefully budgeting its length so you don’t run out before you’re done.
Basically, in each level there are a bunch of different-sized circles of various colors. At the bottom of the screen, there are bars that need to be filled to move on to the next level. These bars are filled as you draw a completed shape around all of the circles you want to collect. You can only submit one complete drawing, which will take from your rope length, which is displayed at the top of the screen.
As you fill up these bars, you can end up going under your rope length, which will help you in the next set of five levels. Going over can be dangerous though, as it means you are likely using more rope then needed, which can bite you later on when you don’t have enough for a level. There are a bunch of little power-ups at the bottom of the screen that really can help you if you use too much rope: a cat paw can remove a circle from the screen, instantly banking it, a bumble bee can scramble the circles, which can change how your drawing needs to be, and there is even a loan that you can take out which will give you a bit more length to your rope.
Make Ends Meet is very challenging, especially since you don’t know the layout of the next level, so saving rope becomes a big part of your strategy. It’s a simple concept that has a lot of little bits of character and continues to challenge me as I make my way through these stages.
Make Ends Meet is available now on the App Store.
