PHOGS! puts you and a friend in charge of a snaky, two-headed dog, using your stretchy, silly forms to solve puzzles spread across a charming world.
Big, colorful places full of toys and devices to play around with await our goofy, snake-like dog friends. Red and Blue, the two sides of this long, stretchy dog, can each be guided by a friend as you tug and bark your way through each area. You’ll need to coordinate your efforts to do most tasks, seeing as you’re connected. Even if you can’t quite both stay on task, though, it just kind of feels right when you look at those silly dog faces. You just can’t get mad at them.
You’ll eventually get the hang of teamwork (or get sidetracked barking at stuff, which is equally fun), and when you do, you can play with all sorts of interactive devices and toys. Roll some giant balls around. Tug a light into dark places. Snag a train and go for a ride. Everything works with the dogs’ ability to glom onto something with their mouths, either dragging it with them or getting dragged themselves. It’s a delight to just see what you can do by pulling on each of the things you find throughout the game.
We greatly adored this game when we caught it at PAX East in 2019, and we’re just as smitten with the full release of PHOGS!. It’s a lovely, playful experience that works for all ages, teaching teamwork through silliness (although you can play it single player as well). If you love the goofy nature of dogs, this one’s impossible to pass up.
