Habroxia 2‘s enemies might shoot you down, but that doesn’t mean you’re back to the start empty-handed. You have some upgrades you can keep, making things easier on your next adventure.
Sabrina’s father has gone missing while looking for a dangerous force somewhere in space, so it’s up to you to find him. Although searching for him seems like it will have you single-handedly taking down said invading force. They probably should have just sent you to begin with. Especially since you can actually aim your main gun with the Right Stick rather than just firing straight ahead of you. I can just feel all of the other shmup game pilots staring at Sabrina with envy.
As you carve your way through enemy squadrons while searching for dad, you can pick up a variety of weapons from the bosses, replacing whatever you have for your existing side gun (you have the main and side guns). This gives you a second tool whenever you need it, which MIGHT be enough for you to survive. If it isn’t, you’ll be building up credits as you play, and these can be spent on permanent upgrades to your ship. While I might normally feel like I’m bashing my head against the wall in shmups I’m having a hard time with, this one will let me slowly get stronger. Eventually, I’ll probably be able to get through.
Habroxia 2‘s upgrade system is a welcome addition for folks who have trouble with the genre (like me), and you can also ignore it entirely if you want the more challenging experience. Either way, Sabrina’s dad is probably getting sick of sitting on some barren planet, so grab your weapon of choice and go get him back!
Habroxia 2 is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
Hm! This looks interesting, and I’m hoping it’ll stand up next to The Void Rains Upon Her Heart for shmups that are accessible without having to replay the same level 50x times.
