In DEVOUR, Anna tried to control the goat demon Azazel, but has ended up possessed by it. Now, you need to get rid of the demon without her tearing your face off.
CONTENT WARNING: ANIMAL CRUELTY
Seeing that Anna is a real treat to be around, you’re going to want to steer clear of her. That’s kind of hard when you need to explore a maze-like house to get the sacrificial goats, gas, and matches you need to build the fire that will banish the demon inside her. To make it worse, random doors will be locked, and the location of the items gets shuffled on each playthrough. Your escape route on one run might not work on the next, so you’ll always have to explore while you’re in danger.
Anna isn’t just messing around the house, either. She’ll be looking for you and your multiplayer pals (please bring the full four unless you want BIG TROUBLE), and over time, she’ll get more aggressive and persistent. She also adds more demons, so she isn’t the only thing in the house that’s out looking for you. Luckily, you can use a UV flashlight to convince her or her spawned demons to back off, but that piddly light is a small comfort when you’re being hunted from all angles.
DEVOUR is terrifying (I really, REALLY don’t like the killer close-up when you get grabbed) and tense, offering a night of screams for a group of demon-dispelling pals. As long as you work better together than I usually do with my Phasmophobia crew.
DEVOUR is available now on Steam.
