Not that it ever wasn’t stressful for many people. Being out on the streets, alone. Carrying money through bad places. Being in public among strangers. There’s plenty to be afraid of in your average shopping trip, and this game excels at conveying a sense of danger coming from everyone and everything around you. The world feels sinister, here. Everything is definitely plotting against you.
This work is not just about a shopping trip, growing more unsettling as it displays a certain self-awareness of its connection with the player. You’re along for the ride to help this little girl, and you really don’t want to let her down. Still, it’s hard to be brave and guide her when everyone in this place is staring at you with those beady eyes in the red and purple haze. This world feels like hell, or that your reality is at least crumbling a bit, so it may be harder to be helpful here than you initially think.
