Axiom Verge 2 will have you in danger from many mechanical foes, but maybe they could be changed into something useful to you.
Set in…some amount of time beyond the first game (the store page makes it unclear whether it’s before or after, which adds some SPOOKY MYSTERY, doesn’t it?), you’ll join a billionaire, Indra, as they explore this new world. Likely to see what can be sold or turned into something that can be sold. Hopefully if it also destroys the environment in the long run. Maybe get some poor local people to work for free on the whole process? Billionaires, am I right? Anyway, you’ll be out helping her explore and definitely not purposely throwing her into trouble.
When you’re done throwing our billionaire into hazards, you can fight back against them using a variety of neat weapons. I love boomerangs, though, so that’s definitely affecting my opinion. Outside of your own tools, though, you can hack your enemies to make them turn on one another, have them go into an overclocked mode that can cause mayhem, or activate them when they’re sitting there doing nothing. If you use your gadgets well, you might not have to get your hands dirty much at all. How very billionaire of you to make everyone else do the work. And make the locals turn on one another for your benefit.
Axiom Verge 2 is an intriguing sequel that I don’t want to say much else about to avoid giving away too many of its secrets, but suffice to say, there are some compelling things hiding in this world, and you’re going to want to find them as you hack your way through this surreal place.
Axiom Verge 2 is available now on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and the Epic Games Store.
