Mini Maker: Make a Thing is a game full of charm, quirks, and the ability to create basically any character you want using an array limbs, eyes, and tools.
In this game, you have the ability to make any sort of character you want. However, you will be following the requests you are given and using the packs of parts you have to create something perfectly imperfect to present to your requester. There is a lot of charm in Mini Maker. It’s one of the games at EGX that really drew me in, just from the artwork alone. Some of the game is flat, while other aspects are 3D, and there are blob creatures that look as if they are made of clay, ready for the forming.
When you have a request, you are able to build up that character. Let’s say someone wants a baddie. You can then add an eye patch and a dagger to your character, along with their limbs, before spray painting them and adding in any extra details. Then you can submit your character to be judged by the people around you, who will make comments on what they like about your design or what they dislike about it.
In the creation screen of Mini Maker, you are able to make parts bigger or smaller, rotate them around, and otherwise use them to create your character. You will also find keys and coins you can interact with during the “building a character” stage, to collect them. Though I only got the chance to play a little demo of Mini Maker, I was intrigued by the different characters you could create and by the world as a whole. It really brings out your creativity, like Electric Zine Maker does for zines or Quick Draw does with doodles (which you can use to play with an AI). I do hope the full game has a story that I can use to understand the world better!
Mini Maker: Make a Thing is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
