Harmony’s Odyssey takes players to a place of cute witches and mystical beings, having them solve puzzles in colorful diorama lands.
I am a sucker for cute visual and fast-paced gameplay, which Harmony’s Odyssey delivers. This 3D adventure puzzle game offers a bunch of different ideas, all seamlessly combined to create an interactive experience through dioramas.
In the game, you are presented with a little world which you can interact with to solve a puzzle. Some of the first puzzles I encountered while playing the game at EGX involved moving your character around the world and picking up objects to bring back to the start, all while avoiding enemies who are walking around. It was kinda like delivering mail in this small world, which is an adorable concept. Then, I moved onto putting an area together through moving around puzzle pieces. It was simple, but very beautiful to watch as the world itself is lovely.
There are so many different details and small animations in Harmony’s Odyssey, adding tons of character. The lands themselves are full of cute fantasy creatures, and often a witch or two. Some of the scenes are relatable as well – plugging in a computer that’s dying is something I tend to do so much.
The world that you dive into in Harmony’s Odyssey is bite-sized, with lots of different little places to explore, showing you daily life with magical beings and adorable creatures. I enjoyed the variety in game play – while everything is a simple puzzle, having these breaks as we switch between puzzles keeps the game feeling refreshing and fun. There seems to be a lot to do and so many different worlds to dip into, which makes for a good time even if you do dip in and out, playing the game on your phone while waiting in line at the store or on your PC, while waiting for your meeting to start.
Harmony’s Odyssey is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo from Steam.
