You Will (Not) Remain sees you hanging around an apartment complex with your strange, surreal dog as the world collapses into otherworldly ruin all around you.
A vibrant horror fills the skies outside of your apartment complex. If you stay inside and keep anyone and anything from coming in, you should stay safe, though. But how safe do you feel when you can see that purple light creeping further and further throughout the city? When you look at the sprawling beast that grows near? When you can hear the walls of your own home whispering some strange things to you? It certainly doesn’t feel like anywhere is safe, but for now, your home will have to do. Lonely as it is.
It’s not as lonely as it could be thanks to Lambshank, your dog. Dog? Well, it’s kind of shaped like a dog. It seems to enjoy keeping you company. Playing fetch with you. Listening to you talk, even if it doesn’t respond. But sometimes, isn’t it just enough to have someone there to listen to you? Animals can have that wonderful effect, feeling like they may not understand your words, but they know what’s really in your heart. They understand what you feel, and they want to be there for you. So sure, Lambshank is kinda odd, but their company is irreplaceable. Especially as all of this loneliness begins to whittle down your mind and resolve.
You Will (Not) Remain takes you to a supernatural place that feels a little too familiar as many of us try to hunker down and wait out the viral storm outside. It’s a familiar place, but one that made my own feelings of loneliness a little lighter as I shared them with the game’s protagonist and their cute dog creature, even if only for a little while.
You Will (Not) Remain is available now on Steam.
