GDevelop Game Jam is looking to see what sort of wild, fun, and unique games you can make within ten days using the GDevelop game engine.
GDevelop, which touts itself as “no-code, free and super easy” is to be your tool of choice while you create your game. The engine’s site claims that it offers ready made assets, as well as the ability to create them yourself. Behaviors are also available for those assets to start doing actions as well, and the engine offers a bunch more features that would probably make a lot more sense to me if I’d ever made a video game myself. For an outsider looking inward, it seems like a neat tool to play around with for a beginning game developer. The sort of thing I’d toy with if I ever found myself with some spare time. Which should happen sometime before I turn to dust from old age, hopefully.
The theme will be announced on February 11th, so you may want to register for the GDevelop Game Jam now (which you can do here) and start looking around for your team pretty quickly. There’s a link to their Discord if you need to find a crew (you team can only have a maximum of four people, though), as well as links to getting the GDevelop Engine from the jam site. It could be worth your while, too, as the jam has several cash prizes for first to fifth place ($1024 bucks for first place isn’t too bad for a week’s worth of work).
GDevelop Game Jam submissions open February 10th 2022 at 11:00 PM and run to February 20th 2022 at 11:00 PM (no time zone listed on the site, unfortunately). So, you’re going to want to work quickly and get your team together if you’re aiming for first place.
